Toolkit purpose

The purpose of this toolkit is to combine resources for Art Therapists who work with children who have experienced trauma and could benefit from utilizing Art Therapy as a modality, as well as continual education for Clinicians interested in broadening their resources and interventions for their clients.

In this toolkit, I utilized the Wiley Handbook of Art Therapy and other resources to create several interventions based on the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC), and citations will be found on the Reference page of this website.

Through my own lens and experiences as an Art Therapist working with children in the field, I have seen the prevalence of trauma and its effects on childhood development. The benefits that Art Therapy can provide can be a great addition to a client’s therapy experience.

One of my goals for this toolkit is to bring resources to Art Therapists, and that it can be approachable through effective and accessible technology.

This toolkit includes educational materials, summaries of research, guidelines for best practices, and psycho-educational handouts. It’s a compilation of related information, resources, and tools that together guide clinicians to develop a plan or organize efforts to conform to evidence-based specific practice standards.

I also designed art therapy directives that I integrated the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills. I wanted to offer options for integrating theoretical skills into art therapy directives to enhance a client’s experience with therapy.

overall, I would like for this toolkit to provide action-orientated recommendations for Clinicians who are seeking to expand their knowledge base and want to gain supportive materials for their clients.
